It’s been a crazy month. The big news of the moment is that we are now officially registered as a community interest company in England & Wales. Welcome to Biker Rebuild CIC. For those of you who don’t know CIC in the UK is a business structure halfway between a charity and a limited liability company. We can do everything a business can but our activities are completely non-profit, we are dedicated to the benefit of our community (biker ex-offenders), and our assets are locked to a registered charity doing similar work to ours so in the event, we cease trading or have assets to dispose of they are given to the specified charity who do similar work to Biker Rebuild CIC. That’s why we chose to lock our assets to Nacro – a UK charity that helps ex-offenders with health, housing, and legal issues.
Biker Rebuild CIC is unique in that we are the only company that works exclusively with biker ex-offenders and not on a broader scale. This is because when I founded the company, I wanted to exclusively serve the biker community, I have no doubt that our resources may help other ex-offenders but I prefer to keep our focus on the biker community.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor Frankl
We love this quote and it’s true, this is why we exist as an organization to support and help biker ex-offenders who have accepted that there’s something in their life they would like to change moving forward, we’re just here to help. This is why all our support is client-led you decide the direction, after all, it’s your life, your journey.
So what can you expect from Biker Rebuild CIC in the next 13 months?
We’re busy focusing on our setup process and of course fundraising at the moment, before we can give 1:1 advice in any way all staff doing that need to be DBS checked so we are starting that process along with working on content for the online resource hub, the section of our website that offers guidance and resources for newly released biker ex-offenders.
Next year we have some ambitious plans from digital skills training, a helpline, small events, merch, and working on the freedom kit and mentor program along with forging bonds with our local community and the motorcycle clubs.
We hope you will continue to support us and join us on this exciting journey, for now, ride safe and stay well!
