Welcome to our Community Interest Statement this is the promise we make to you our community. We, declare that the company will carry on its activities for the benefit of the community, or a section of the community.Â
Bikers who are ex-offenders who due to their outlook, connections, and circumstances, often struggle with reintegration into society after release. who also share a goal of making a transformation or improvements in their lives after their release from prison. These bikers are driven by a passion for freedom, and bike riding, and are willing to put in the time and effort required to improve their lives, circumstances, or opportunities. The CIC will support the biker community by offering services needed to bring about a transformation or improved circumstances and opportunities. While maintaining privacy and respect for their biker lifestyle and/or club affiliations.
By association, our community of interest extends to the wider family of these individuals because they similarly experience negative impacts as a result of having a loved one incarcerated and the challenges of adjustment after release.
The company will seek to support individuals and their families from release onwards in the areas they choose to work on such as housing, employment, socialization, mental health, and opportunities to support family life and traditional values. We do this through the development and delivery of our services our website, our helpline, and our unique 6-week intense support service.
Additional services are offered through our membership to the community sharing resources and tips on legal rights, and life after prison and offering support and encouragement to one another. This community may also host workshops or invite guest speakers to share their expertise on issues affecting ex-offenders. We also aim to host social activities from group rides to family days out. Ultimately, the goal of this CIC is to help its community to transform their lives, make meaningful changes, and become role models within the biker community and beyond. Through our support, each individual can build a brighter future, reconnect with their passions, and contribute to their communities with confidence and pride.
The current landscape in terms of services that help ex-offenders are mainly based in London and North-East and normally specialists in one area e.g housing or employment, no service like ours allows the ex-offender to choose the direction of the support, equally, there is no biker specific service even though alot of bikers end up in prison. The reputations of motorcycle clubs put across by the media expose bikers to additional stigma and distrust. Our service focuses on the priorities of the individual, increasing the effort they put forward and changes of successful transformation while respecting their way of life, it is very difficult to explain the life and mind of a biker to a non-biker as preconceptions and a lack of understanding of how the biker community works as a structure get in the way, therefore, we will specifically train all staff in these areas. Where possible and in suitable roles the company believes in hiring ex-offenders within its operation (due to the need to pass a DBS it may not be possible in all roles,).
Our client’s first approach backed with our founder’s knowledge of the biker community is why this CIC is unique in its approach.
Activities
Website & Social Media:
The community will benefit from the website, blog, and social media groups, aimed to be an initial access point with a help guide, information on legal rights, and articles aimed at how to make lifestyle and social improvements, mental health, and details of social events and rides to improve socialization. The website aims to create a sense of community and empower the community through information and learning.
It’s widely documented that the first 48 hours of release are crucial, this is why our helpline aims to be there when the community needs us. From being the non-judgemental calm voice when they just need to talk to signposting to essential services and brainstorming strategy to issues being faced, like our support service this service is highly personalized, giving the user the most useful advice for them meeting them where they are at when the call is made. This provides great benefit to the individual in terms of practical help and impact on their mental health.
6-week intense support program
The Intense Support program is our signature offering, it teams up a support worker and expert to work directly with ex-offenders to find solutions to their biggest barriers to the life they want. The expert is chosen based on the biggest field of difficulty so that they can make maximum impact on the individual’s life. The benefits of this service is transformation and support in the most important areas in the lives of our community. The service will have 3 teams allocated in blocks of 6 weeks in a full company meeting, individuals can be allocated additional weeks of this service if it is deemed necessary. The service is led and directed by the community enabling high engagement and benefits to all involved. Results can be life-changing depending on the issues focused upon.
